Amid prolonged drought, Tarbela dam is quickly reaching dead level, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

Besides Tarbela Dam, Simli and Khanpur Dams have also reached dead level due to lack of rains in the country.  The current storage of water in Tarbela Dam is 9.92 million that only 16 percent of the water is usable. Water discharge in Tarbela Dam is 45000 cusecs while inflow is 13800 cusecs.

Sources said if the water discharge remains the same then Tarbela Dam will dry out within 15 days. Water supply from Khanpur Dam to Islamabad and Rawalpindi has also been stopped because of sanitation drive.
