Fresh off his electrifying Super Bowl performance, global music icon Bad Bunny is stepping into a new creative chapter and this time, it’s on the big screen.
According to the Daily Mail, the 31 year old star, whose real name is Benito Ocasio, has signed on to star in a historical drama titled Porto Rico, a film deeply rooted in the story and identity of his homeland.
The project will be directed by fellow Puerto Rican artist Residente, marking his debut behind the camera. The film is already generating serious buzz, with acclaimed actors Javier Bardem, Edward Norton, and Viggo Mortensen also attached.
Adding even more weight to the project, Oscar winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Inarritu is on board as an executive producer.
While this may seem like a major shift, acting isn’t entirely new territory for Bad Bunny. He previously appeared in F9, Narcos: Mexico, Bullet Train, and Cassandro, and even hosted Saturday Night Live, showing his range beyond music.
Still, Porto Rico marks his most culturally personal role yet, a story centered on Puerto Rico’s complex and often debated history.
Residente has described the film as a lifelong dream, saying it will present Puerto Rico’s story with honesty and intensity. Edward Norton also praised the vision behind the project, comparing its ambition to epic crime dramas that blend powerful storytelling with deeper historical truths.
Meanwhile, outside Hollywood, Bad Bunny’s name is also circulating in wrestling headlines. Influencer turned WWE personality Logan Paul recently hinted at a potential future showdown, claiming a match between them could become one of the biggest in wrestling history.
The Latin superstar previously stepped into the WWE ring in 2021 and impressed fans with his athleticism.
