Monkeypox virus has been confirmed in a woman from Shujaabad at Nishtar Hospital in Multan, according to hospital authorities.

A spokesperson for Nishtar Hospital said the infected woman is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital’s isolation ward, where special precautionary measures have been implemented by the administration to prevent the spread of the virus.

Hospital officials revealed that a resident of Muzaffargarh is also being treated after being diagnosed with both monkeypox and HIV/AIDS.

With the latest cases, the number of monkeypox patients under treatment at Nishtar Hospital has risen to two.

The hospital spokesperson added that a total of three monkeypox patients have been reported at the facility so far this year.

Authorities say strict safety protocols are in place in the isolation ward to ensure effective management of the cases and to safeguard other patients and medical staff.
