The Faisalabad Excise and Taxation Department has registered the most expensive car ever entered into the record of Pakistan's history, an imported Lamborghini valued at Rs560 million, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
According to officials, a local IT firm purchased the vehicle for Rs563.1 million, while the department received Rs23 million in registration fees alone.
The high-end Lamborghini quickly became a sensation on social media, with images and videos spreading widely and attracting widespread public fascination.
The vehicle’s arrival marks a rare sight in the region, as such ultra-luxury supercars are seldom seen outside major metropolitan centres.
The first-ever 18k gold foil Lamborghini Aventador S was imported into Islamabad, Pakistan, from the UK in 2018, and its value was Rs180 million, including import customs duties and taxes of over 100 million.
Lamborghini, officially Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. and informally known as “Lambo”, is a globally revered Italian manufacturer of luxury sports cars and SUVs headquartered in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
The company operates under the umbrella of the Volkswagen Group through its subsidiary Audi.
The brand was founded in 1963 by industrialist Ferruccio Lamborghini, who set out to rival Ferrari with a philosophy centred on bold design and a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.
Under the stewardship of the Chrysler Corporation from 1987, followed by Malaysian and Indonesian investment groups in 1994, Lamborghini eventually found long-term stability when it was acquired by the Volkswagen Group in 1998.
Despite suffering a nearly 50 percent dip in sales during the late-2000s recession, Lamborghini regained momentum and now produces advanced supercars, including the twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid Temerario, the Urus SUV, and the V12/electric hybrid Revuelto.
Ferruccio Lamborghini’s legacy also lives on through Lamborghini Trattori, founded in 1948 and now operating independently from the automobile division, producing agricultural tractors from its base in Pieve di Cento, Italy.
The registration of the ultra-expensive supercar in Faisalabad marks a significant moment for the city’s automotive landscape and highlights the growing purchasing power of local tech enterprises.
