Low attendance was witnessed on the first day as all public and private educational institutions across Punjab were reopened on Monday after the conclusion of the extended winter vacations, reported 24NewsHD TV channel
Students expressed happiness over the reopening of schools. They said that they will be in direct contact with the teachers and will take direct guidance from them.
The teachers were of the view that students availed excess vacations, which also limited the current educational year. They said that all the students will have to focus on their studies as time for final examinations is approaching fast.
The teachers said that they will now be able to prepare a lesson plan, which will be helpful for them.
The winter holidays, which began on December 20, 2025, allowed students 30 days off, the Education Department said.
With the resumption of academic activities, the department has also issued a formal notification announcing revised school timings for government institutions across the province.
According to the notification, schools will operate from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays, classes will conclude at 12:15 pm. These timings will remain in force from January 19 to April 15, 2026.
