Sections of two major motorways were closed on Monday due to dense fog, authorities said, urging commuters to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.
According to Syed Imran Ahmed, spokesperson for the Central Region, the M3 Motorway from Faizpur to Jaranwala has been closed because of poor visibility caused by fog. In addition, the Lahore–Sialkot Motorway (M11) has been closed to traffic under the same conditions.
He said the temporary closure of the motorways was aimed at protecting the lives and property of the public, as fog can prove to be extremely dangerous for driving.
Advising motorists, Syed Imran Ahmed said travellers should prefer daytime journeys during foggy weather. He added that the safest time for travel in such conditions is between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Authorities have advised road users to remain updated on traffic conditions and follow official instructions until visibility improves and the motorways are reopened.
