Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given administrative agencies a deadline of July 30 to clear sensitive areas near Lahore Airport, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a grand operation to secure an 8-kilometer area around airports under the "No Bird Zone" has been intensified.
Wildlife and Environment Authority (EPA) forces and the district administration have started operations in the ‘No Bird Zone’.
To prevent the presence of birds, the process of removing garbage has been intensified in the areas of Lahore Cantonment, Walton and LWMC.
Wildlife, EPA force along with district administration started a joint operations, conducted raids, imposed fines and arrested dozens of citizens and bird boxes including pigeons were also seized in different areas.
A complete ban on throwing garbage in sensitive zones has been imposed in view of the fear of air accidents due to birds.
Special teams are active for the cleanliness campaign and continuous monitoring and reporting process is also ongoing.
Fines were also imposed on those who throw garbage in open places and keep garbage bins without lids.
Elimination of pigeon camps in Al-Faisal Town, monitoring of poultry shops and de-nesting operations were completed in Garrison Club.
There is complete ban on spreading seeds on slaughterhouses, poultry farms, shrines and rooftops.
Strict surveillance of Barki Road, Bedian Road, DHA, Askari, Walton Road and Gaddafi Stadium is continued.
Pigeon cages removed from Bihar Shah Road and Zarar Shaheed Road while nest removal process also underway.
Nest removal operation completed in Shalamar Bagh, Bhatta Chowk, Jail Road, Mughalpura and RA Bazaar.
As many as 142 nests were removed in Garrison Golf Club, 21 nests removed from Bagh-e-Rehmat School Area, 18 from Bhatta Chowk, 42 from Shalamar Bagh and 15 nests removed from Jail Road.
