Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observed the Kashmir's Accession to Pakistan Day on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The day was marked with a renewed pledge to continue their struggle for achievement of their right to self-determination and to translate the idea of accession of entire Jammu and Kashmir State to Pakistan.
Elaborate programmes have been chalked out to observe the Day throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and in other parts of the world where Kashmiris are living.
In Muzaffarabad, a special ceremony was held at Khurshed National Library.
Ministers, leaders of All Parties Conference, leaders of political parties and people belonging to all walks of life attended the ceremony.
President’s message
President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday paid tribute to the unwavering resolve of the Kashmiri people on the occasion of ‘Accession to Pakistan’ Day.
The day marked the historic resolution passed on July 19, 1947 in which the people of Kashmir expressed their will to accede to Pakistan.
In his message, the president said on July 19, 1947, the brave people of Kashmir passed the historic resolution for accession to Pakistan.
“Accession to Pakistan Day is a shining symbol of the collective will of the Kashmiri people and their natural and eternal bond with Pakistan,” President Secretariat Press Wing, in a press release, quoted the president as saying
President Zardari also lauded the Kashmiri people’s ongoing struggle for self-determination, despite decades of Indian oppression.
Despite India’s ongoing tyranny and repression, the people of Kashmir continued their just struggle with resilience and courage, he said, adding their sacrifices had become a global symbol of freedom, resistance, and sacrifice.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding stance, the president said they would continue to provide their firm moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people till they were granted their right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.
He also expressed firm belief by saying that the struggle of the Kashmiri people would not go in vain as one day, they would be free from the Indian illegal occupation.
PM’s message
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says Pakistan will continue to extend diplomatic, moral and political support to the Kashmiris.
In a message on the occasion of Accession to Pakistan Day, he said a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions is the only guarantee of the rights of the Kashmiris and peace in the region.
He said Accession to Pakistan Day is observed every year to commemorate the Srinagar session of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference on July 19, 1947.
On that day, the brave people of Kashmir passed a resolution for the accession of the state of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan.
He said with the passage of time, the spirit of freedom of Kashmiris has increased.
He said, today, the third generation of Kashmiris is also determined like their ancestors to achieve their right to self-determination.
Shehbaz Sharif said the decades-long struggle of the brave Kashmiris against illegal occupation reflects their spirit of patriotism and true demand for freedom.
Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering support to the Kashmiri people's legitimate struggle for their right to self-determination and their historic decision to accede to Pakistan.
In his message on the occasion of Accession to Pakistan day, he said on this day in 1947 the Kashmiris through a unanimous resolution decided to join Pakistan based on religious, cultural, and geographical affinities.
He said Pakistan continues to uphold its principled stance for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Mohsin Naqvi’s message
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued a heartfelt message on Kashmir Accession Day (Youm-e-Ilhaq-e-Kashmir), paying tribute to the unwavering spirit of the Kashmiri people and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to their right to self-determination.
“Kashmir Accession Day is the dawn in history when the people of Kashmir rejected Dogra rule and chose Pakistan as their political and spiritual destination,” said Naqvi. He recalled that on July 19, 1947, Kashmiris made a decision that could not be erased by the dust of time, the fog of tyranny, or the sound of gunfire.
Quoting Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Naqvi said: “Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan,” a declaration that remains central to the country’s national consciousness even today.
He emphasized that the spirit of 1947 still echoes in Kashmir’s mountains and valleys, raised by the unarmed yet valiant Kashmiris who chose to align their destiny with Pakistan.
Despite Indian military oppression, draconian laws, and human rights violations, Kashmiris have stood firm in their devotion to Pakistan. “Even through prisons, silenced voices, and dug-up graves, India has failed to remove Pakistan from the hearts of Kashmiris,” he said.
On this solemn occasion, Naqvi saluted the martyrs of Kashmir, who valued their ideological bond with Pakistan more than their own lives. He also lamented the continued silence and double standards of the international community, saying that UN resolutions still await the awakening of global conscience to grant Kashmiris their rightful plebiscite.
“Kashmir Accession Day is a mirror to the world, reflecting its silence and hypocrisy,” he stated. “It is also a day of renewed commitment—Kashmiris’ sacrifices are a trust upon us, and the only repayment is freedom.”
Naqvi expressed hope, saying: “The day is not far when India will be forced to bow before the just demands of Kashmiris.” He reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue its diplomatic, moral, and political support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for freedom.
