The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has said that in order to prevent horse-trading, the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will be held unopposed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The decision was taken at the party’s political committee meeting held on Friday.
The declaration issued at the end of the meeting said that former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan had finalized the names of the party’s candidates.
The declaration further said that the decision was taken after consultations with the PTI’s parliamentary party in the KP Assembly.
On the other hand, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said on Saturday that the wealthy and affluent people were preferred over the PTI workers in the Senate elections in KP. “The workers have lost, while the ATMs have won,” she said.
She alleged that the party, which claimed to be opposed to horse-trading, was itself involved in it. “The party workers have exposed the deeds of their leadership,” she claimed, alleging that Imran Khan, too, was involved in horse trading.
PTI workers, she went on to say, were left to suffer, while there were migratory birds in the party who enjoyed privileges. “I sympathize with the ideological workers of the PTI.”
Azma also claimed that the PTI was fast losing its popularity in KP.
