A cloudburst in the Katha Piran area of Neelum Valley on Sunday triggered sudden flash floods, causing widespread destruction to homes, businesses, public infrastructure and vehicles, according to initial reports.
Authorities said the flash floods swept away at least six houses, 16 shops, a mosque and a middle school building. The building of the Government Girls High School Katha Piran also sustained severe damage, affecting the area's educational infrastructure.
The floods also submerged a carry van, two jeeps, 11 motorcycles and six wooden bridges, disrupting transportation and access in the affected locality.
According to the district administration, no casualties have been reported so far.
Officials said teams are carrying out a detailed assessment of the damage, and a comprehensive report will be released after the survey is completed. The administration is monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures in the affected area.
