Javed Hashmi faces power theft case in Multan

The Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has registered a case of alleged electricity theft against senior politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and two others following an inspection at Hashmi House, officials said.

According to MEPCO officials, electricity was allegedly being consumed by installing illegal loops on three electricity meters at the residence. Following the inspection, all three meters were disconnected.

Officials said separate cases have been registered under the Electricity Theft Act against Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Zahid Bahar Hashmi and Shahzeb Hashmi.

MEPCO has also imposed a fine of Rs750,000 over the alleged electricity theft.

Meanwhile, police at Makhdoom Rashid Police Station have initiated legal proceedings and started efforts to arrest the individuals named in the cases.

The accused have not yet publicly responded to the allegations. The matter remains under investigation, and the charges will be subject to legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
