The Congo virus has claimed 2 lives within the span of 3 days in Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Thursday.
According to the report, Zubair Lakhio, a 22-year-old young man from Ibrahim Haidri in Malir district, eventually lost his life after battling with the Congo virus for almost a whole week.
On the other hand, as per the health officials, the deadly Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) silenced the life song of another resident of the Malir district, Abdul Rauf.
The presence of the Congo virus has been confirmed by the Sindh Health Department.
The health teams, in response, have been dispatched to the affected areas for surveillance and preventive measures.
The District Health Officer (DHO) Malir, Dr Imdad Channa, has confirmed that action has been taken in order to combat the situation.
Meanwhile, in an urgent move to prevent the spread of the virus, Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza has imposed a health emergency across the district for 15 days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to a notification issued on Tuesday, the emergency, which would last until June 30, was imposed to prevent the spread of Crimean–Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF).
The notification imposed a complete ban on the inter-provincial and inter-district movement of cattle as well as setting up a cattle market in the district.
The ban would remain in place until the emergency was lifted, read the notification.
