PTI’s high command and the lawmakers have all opposed the party’s protest against the present government during the summer season, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Sources told 24News TV channel that it was because of this opposition that the former prime minister and PTI Patron-in-Chief Imran Khan initially put off the protest until July.
But even then, sources added, the party leadership did not feel satisfied, and it conveyed to the patron-in-chief that not many workers would come out onto the streets due to extreme heat.
Quoting members of the political committee, they said that July coincided with Muharram and it would be impropriate to hold protest during the holy month.
The PTI’s legal team, sources went on to say, had conveyed to Imran that they were busy appearing in courts in connection with his cases and in the event of a protest, the hearing of these cases would be disturbed.
The party’s leadership and the lawmakers had requested the former prime minister to give them time so that they could make preparations for the protest and also announce a date and that, too, after the summers are over.
