Mohsin Naqvi says cashless system to be introduced in the passport offices from July 1

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that it was decided to introduce key reforms in the passport issuance system by shifting it completely to e-passports, aiming at totally curbing fraud and forgery, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The decisions were taken at a meeting held at Passport and Immigration Headquarters in Islamabad on Friday, which was chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The meeting also decided that a cashless system will be introduced in all the passport offices from July 1, 2026. 

Mohsin Naqvi said that the decision to issue e-passports will help to curb forgery and fraud in the issuance of passports.

The meeting also decided that all those citizens who avail the premium service will have to bear the fees.

The process to deliver passports at the doorsteps inside Pakistan and abroad will start soon, and all the initial work in this regard has already been completed.

It was also decided during the meeting that all the online applications will be shifted to the PakID platform.

Mohsin Naqvi directed completion of consultations with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) regarding the issuance of business passports.

On the occasion, Director-General of Immigration Mohammad Ali Randhwa gave a detailed briefing to the interior minister.
