In a historic achievement at the ITF World Championships in Manavgat, Turkey, Pakistan’s dynamic duo Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan have advanced to the doubles final and will be competing for the gold medal on Friday against team from Finland who are beat tournament top seed France in the quarterfinals
In their doubles match, the Pakistani pair delivered a dominant performance, defeating Carsten Groeger (Germany) and Pedro Norton (Spain) 6-0, 6-0 to secure their place in the gold medal match.
Meanwhile, Aqeel Khan also reached the singles semifinals after an impressive 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory over Jiri Lokaj (Czech Republic) in the quarterfinals. This win ensures Pakistan is now competing for a silver medal in singles as well.
Additionally, in the mixed doubles category, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, paired with a French player, will compete in the semifinals tomorrow.
Talking from Turkey, AIsam asked the nation for prayers to bring glory to the country once again after a long time before Eid.
He said he and Aqeel were hopeful of winning the title in the event and will surely give good news to the nation as their prayers are always with us.
