The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad has granted post-arrest bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Ali Shah from Swat in connection with terror cases registered against him during the November 26 protest, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The channel reported that the hearing of the case was conducted by ATC Judge Abu Al-Hasnat Zulqarnain, who approved Ali Shah’s bail against surety bonds of Rs 5,000 each.
PTI’s legal counsels, Zahid Bashir Dar and Murtaza Toori, appeared before the court, while the police submitted the case records. Ali Shah was booked in cases registered at Sangjani and Aabpara police stations.
Ali Shah is an elected MPA from PK-4 Swat-II and hails from the village of Jano, tehsil Khawazakhela in Swat.
A lawyer by profession with an MA and LLB degree, he is a member of four key standing committees of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, including Science & Technology, Industries & Commerce, Religious Affairs, and Agriculture.
It is important to note that on January 10, 2025, ATC Islamabad Judge Abu Al-Hasnat Zulqarnain announced bail decisions for 177 PTI workers arrested in connection with the November 26 protest.
The ATC judge granted bail to 153 individuals while rejecting 24 applications. The bail approvals varied across different police stations, with Karachi Company, Kohsar, I-9, and Secretariat Police Stations granting bail to most of the accused.
The court set a surety bond of Rs 5,000 for each accused granted bail.
