Asserting that the unity of the Pakistani nation could not be complete until and unless former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan was released from jail, PTI leader Azam Khan Swati said on Monday that even the country’s decision makers were now rethinking about the future of the former prime minister, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking at the premises of an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi, Swati expressed the hope that soon Imran would be released from jail, not after striking a deal but on the court orders.
He further said that at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan were at their peak, standing by the armed forces was the need of the hour.
Lahore court rejects Swati’s plea
Also on Monday, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore rejected Swati’s application, seeking orders to the superintendent of Kot Lakhpat Jail, Lahore, to allow him to meet incarcerated PTI leaders.
Swati’s counsel on the occasion told the court that thrice his client went to the jail to meet the PTI leaders, but not once the superintendent permitted him to meet them.
The jail superintendent submitted a report to the court in which it was stated that as per the rules, only family members of the jail inmates were allowed to meet them.
“Swati has no blood relation with any of these prisoners,” read the report.
