Consultations have begun on finalizing the national squad for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against Australia national cricket team, with selectors weighing several key changes ahead of the contests.
Sources indicate that former captain Babar Azam is likely to be included in the squad.
The selection committee is also considering multiple adjustments to the combination that recently featured against Bangladesh national cricket team.
Among the names under discussion are opener Fakhar Zaman, emerging spinner Sufyan Muqeem, and young prospect Hunain Shah. Meanwhile, all-rounder Hussain Talat is reportedly being considered for omission from the squad.
The Australian team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on May 23, while Pakistan’s training camp will shift to Rawalpindi from May 22 to fine-tune preparations.
The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Australia is set to be played on May 30, June 2, and June 4, promising competitive cricket as the hosts look to settle on a balanced lineup ahead of a busy international calendar.
