The federal government has carried out significant reshuffles in the senior bureaucracy, including the removal of the Secretary of the Water Resources Division and the assignment and extension of key additional charges in important ministries.
According to an official notification issued by the Establishment Division, Secretary Water Resources Division Syed Ali Murtaza has been removed from his post and directed to report as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Establishment Division.
In a related development, Secretary Petroleum Division Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh has been assigned the additional charge of Secretary Water Resources Division. The additional responsibility will remain effective for three months, or until the appointment of a permanent secretary, whichever comes earlier.
Officials said the arrangement has been made to ensure continuity in the administrative affairs of the Water Resources Division during the interim period.
Meanwhile, the federal government has also extended the additional charge of Secretary Law and Justice Division to Raja Naeem Akbar, who is currently serving as Senior Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Law.
According to the notification issued with the approval of the Prime Minister, the extension has been granted for a period of six months, effective from May 12, 2026. The decision ensures continued leadership in the Law Ministry amid ongoing administrative requirements.
The Establishment Division issued separate notifications for each appointment and change, formalizing the latest adjustments in the federal administrative structure.
Officials said such postings and additional charge assignments are part of routine bureaucratic management aimed at maintaining smooth governance and operational stability across key federal divisions.
