A meeting of a high powered selection board for the promotion of federal bureaucrats from Grade 21 to Grade 22 has been postponed until June, according to official sources.
The meeting was initially scheduled for May 20, but will now be held next month due to administrative considerations, sources in the Establishment Division said.
Officials stated that the decision to postpone the meeting was taken due to “administrative expediencies,” making it difficult to convene the board within the originally planned timeframe.
According to Establishment Division sources, the upcoming meeting is expected to consider the promotion of senior officers across several key occupational groups. These include seven officers from the Pakistan Administrative Service, five officers from the Police Service of Pakistan, one officer from the Secretariat Group, and one officer each from the Inland Revenue Service and Information Group.
Officials further confirmed that all preparatory work for the High Powered Selection Board meeting has already been completed, and the revised schedule will be implemented next month.
The promotions, once approved, will elevate selected officers from Grade 21 to the highest rank of Grade 22 in Pakistan’s civil service structure, a key step in the federal bureaucracy hierarchy.
Sources emphasized that despite the delay, the process remains on track and will proceed in accordance with established rules and procedures governing senior-level promotions in the civil service.
