Pakistani actress Zoya Nasir openly addressed the controversial public remarks often made by her father, veteran Pakistani scriptwriter Nasir Adeeb, during her appearance on Buzz hosted by Hasan Choudary.

Speaking about the criticism surrounding his podcasts and commentary, Zoya said she believes her father sometimes fails to realize the far-reaching impact of his words in the digital age, adding that he occasionally blurs the line between discussing fictional characters and real people.

During the conversation, Hasan asked whether she had ever spoken to her father about the opinions he publicly shares and the backlash they frequently attract. Responding candidly, Zoya said: “dekhain he is my dad and he is a great dad, Alhamdulilah. Mein ny jo unki success bachpan mein thi to I was a late child mein ny wo dekhi nhi thi aur I don’t listen to his podcast because Masha Allah he’s 87 and he belongs to an era jahan py apky interviews jab hoty thy tab cameras or studio lightings hoti thi aur wo interview ek saal mei release hota tha. I don’t think he realizes the impact of what he’s saying because he is a story teller unhon ny hamesha script sunai hai so when he starts talking about real people so I think wo sometime blurs the line between ky wo asal insaan ky bary mein baat kr rhy hain wo koi story fiction ya character ky bary mein baat nhi kr rahay. I think that’s where he is lacking.” (Look, he is my dad, and he is a great dad, Alhamdulilah. I was a late child, so I didn't see the success he had during his youth. I don't listen to his podcasts because, Masha Allah, he is 87 years old and belongs to an era where interviews involved studio lights and cameras, and those interviews would be released a year later. I don't think he realizes the impact of what he is saying because he is a storyteller who has always delivered scripts. So, when he starts talking about real people, I think he sometimes blurs the line, forgetting that he is talking about an actual person and not a fictional story or character. I think that is where he is lacking).

Further she added: “mein ye kehti hu k dekhain hamay ye realize karna chahiye khaas toor par jo hamary veterans hain Lahore kay apki baton ka wazan hai or wo awam sunti hai or wo impactful hai. I think unko pata nhi chalta how big internet is aur unki kitny loug batain sunty hain. Dunya bhar mein sun rahay hain.” (I say this because look, we need to realize especially our veterans from Lahore that your words carry weight, the public listens to them, and they are impactful. I think they don’t realize how big the internet is and how many people are listening to their words. People are listening all over the world).
