Former Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) Sialkot, Iqbal Singhera, who recently escaped from police custody, has been re-arrested and shifted to Camp Jail, Lahore, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.
Officials said Singhera had fled on November 13 while being transported to Lahore following a hearing in the Anti-Corruption Court, Rawalpindi.
Following his escape, a case was registered on November 15 at Chakri Police Station, Rawalpindi.
According to police sources, a special Rawalpindi police team successfully apprehended Singhera.
Three separate teams, all led and supervised by SP Anam Sher Khan of the Saddar Division, Rawalpindi, were deployed to secure the arrest. Singhera.
In connection with the escape, four police officials found negligent in their duties were terminated from service.
Their mobile data has been seized to verify potential contacts with the accused.
The Geo-fencing of the Chakri Rest Area, where the escape occurred, has also been completed.
The police have sent requests to various excise offices to obtain vehicle registration details of the car used during the escape, while the National Highway Authority (NHA) has been contacted to trace which toll plaza the vehicle exited.
A case has been registered against Singhera, his brother, six unidentified accomplices, and the four negligent police officers.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the escape and any potential lapses in police protocol.
Singhera had earlier been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in connection with a high-profile corruption case.
According to sources, he was moved to Camp Jail after the completion of all procedural formalities.
Upon his arrival, jail authorities conducted a mandatory medical examination in accordance with standard prison protocols.
Investigations into his escape and other related charges remain ongoing.
