The newly-elected cabinet of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is expected to receive its portfolios soon, with sources saying a formula for the distribution of ministries has been finalized, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
According to insiders, senior political figures are likely to be awarded key ministries.
Mian Waheed is expected to be appointed senior minister, with the Law and PDO portfolios under consideration for him.
Bazal Naqvi is being viewed as a strong contender for the Health Ministry, while Javed Ayub is likely to receive the Forest Ministry. Chhattisgarh Rashid is expected to take over the Finance Ministry.
Dewan Ali is likely to be assigned the Education (Schools) portfolio, and Rafiq Nayyar’s name has reportedly been finalized for the Information and IT Ministry.
Ali Shan Soni has been proposed for the Food Ministry, while Javed Badhanvi is expected to receive the Rehabilitation and Agriculture portfolios. Qasim Majeed is likely to get the Planning and Land Revenue Department.
Yasir Sultan is reportedly set to be given the Housing Ministry, and Chaudhry Arshad is expected to take charge of the Electricity Ministry. Zia Al-Qamar is being considered for the Public Works Department.
Faheem Rabbani is seen as a strong candidate for the Tourism and Industries Ministry, while Muhammad Hussain is likely to receive the Ushr and Zakat Department. A proposal is under review to assign the Revenue Department to Chaudhry Akhlaq.
Malik Zafar is expected to take over the Education and Colleges Department, and Aamir Yasin is likely to be given the Local Government Department. Ahmad Saghir is set to receive the Prisons Department.
Fahad Yaqoob is expected to take charge of the Sports, Youth and Culture Ministry.
Government sources say the final approval of the cabinet portfolios is expected soon, with regular cabinet activities likely to begin next week.
