Punjab govt decides to register madrassas after mosques

After mosques, now it has been decided to register madrasas in Punjab keeping in view establishment of law and order and prevention of extremism, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday. 

According to report, registration of madrasas will be entrusted to the Home Department instead of School Education.

Registration of madrasas can be done under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

Regarding the registration of madrasas, ulema of two sects and schools of thought have expressed their consent

Matters will be settled soon in a meeting with Imams of two more schools of thought for registration.

Amendments to the Rules of Business Act, 2011 for the registration of madrasas have been handed over to the Home Department.

The Punjab government has completed the geo-tagging of 56,796 mosques across Punjab in the first phase.

However, the process of geo-tagging of 11,758 mosques is still underway in Punjab.

The process of registration of madrasas will also be started in the second phase.
