The federal government has made the payment of passport fees online, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
According to details, the government has introduced a "passport fee app" and now the applicants will be able to deposit the fee through the app instead of going to banks.
Initially, residents of Lahore will be able to deposit fees through the app instead of going to banks while passport fees will also be collected online in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The fee can be submitted by downloading the app on a mobile phone. A 17-digit code will be issued on the mobile number after the fee is collected.
Based on the code, citizens will be able to get passports issued at all offices in the city. Fees can be paid from all banks including ATM machines and Jazz Cash.
The Directorate of Immigration and Passport has issued a notification in this regard.
