The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said the men’s and women’s Asia Cup trophies will eventually reach its headquarters in Mumbai, but has not given a timeline for their return.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said on Friday that both trophies would “one day” arrive at the board’s office at Wankhede Stadium; however, he refrained from providing a timeline.
Both the Indian men's and women's teams refused to accept the silverware from Mohsin Naqvi, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President, and, as a result, the trophies for both editions of the tournament currently remain at the ACC's headquarters in Dubai.
India’s women’s team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, skipped the official trophy presentation after defeating Sri Lanka in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup final last week.
The Indian men’s team had taken a similar position after winning the previous edition in 2025.
Speaking after the BCCI’s 95th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, Saikia said the board could not provide a specific timeframe but assured that both trophies would eventually be brought to its headquarters.
The development means the trophies remain with the ACC for now, with their transfer to the BCCI headquarters still pending.
