Beaconhouse School defeated Aitchison College by 20 runs in the opening match of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) School Cricket Talent Hunt Programme at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday, 24News HD TV reported.
After winning the toss, Aitchison College elected to field first.
Beaconhouse posted 244 for eight in their allotted innings, setting Aitchison a target of 245 runs.
Yaqoob Khan top-scored for Beaconhouse with 51 runs, while Rai Ali Amjad scored 47 and Abdul Rameez made 37.
For Aitchison, Hasan Mudassar was the standout bowler, taking four wickets for 28 runs.
Mughis Wasif claimed three wickets.
Chasing 245, Aitchison College were bowled out for 224 runs, falling 20 runs short of the target.
Muhammad Sufyan scored 50 runs and Zulnoorain made 43, while Daud Tauqeer contributed 39, Abdul Waseh 32 and Umar Rashid 31.
Beaconhouse bowlers Sikandar Ali and Hammad Younis took two wickets each. Shehryar Bhatti, Rai Ali Amjad, Abdul Rameez and Haroon Nadeem claimed one wicket apiece.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan and Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman distributed prizes among the players after the match.
Special awards were also presented to members of the Pakistan Under-19 team in recognition of their performances.
The School Cricket Talent Hunt Programme is aimed at providing young cricketers with opportunities to showcase their talent and identify promising players for the future.
