President Asif Ali Zardari has not yet approved the resignation of Lahore High Court (LHC) judge Justice Muhammad Raheel Kamran Sheikh as his name is still on the high court’s website, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The judge had sent his resignation to the president on September 3, 2026 under Article 206 of the constitution.
A copy of the resignation had also been sent to the registrar of the LHC.
Until and unless the president gives his approval, Justice Raheel, who had been appointed as the LHC judge in May 7, 2021, will not be legally considered a retired judge.
It is worth-mentioning here that Justice Raheel has stopped working ever since he has sent his resignation to the president.
