The Washington Post has reported that the number of US military personnel killed during the war with Iran is higher than the casualty figure publicly released by the Pentagon, 24News HD TV reported.
According to the newspaper, six US officials familiar with the defense department’s internal casualty figures said at least 22 American service members had been killed in the conflict.
The figure is four higher than the number listed in the Pentagon’s publicly available database, the report said.
Five of the six officials cited by the Washington Post independently confirmed that the actual death toll was at least 22.
The report did not provide further details about the circumstances of the reported additional deaths.
