Reacting to Supreme Court’s (SC) order for reelection in NA-75, Daska, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz said on Friday that today’s verdict had once again proved the ‘selected’ Prime Minister Imran Khan and his government had tried to steal the by-election in the constituency on February 19, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a tweet, she said merely ordering reelection in the constituency would not be enough; instead these people would have to be held accountable for trying to rob the PML-N of its mandate and kidnapping the presiding officers for the purpose.  “Congratulations to the party tigers for standing up to those trying to rig the by-election and thus guarding their votes,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb has said today’s (Friday) verdict by the apex court is the vindication of truth and righteousness.

“This is the verdict that has given respect to people’s right to vote,” she said, and added no matter whichever is the day; be it Friday or any other day; every day from now on will be hard on the ‘incompetent’ and ‘corrupt’ government.

Earlier on Friday (April 2), the Supreme Court of Pakistan upheld the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) decision for holding re-election in the entire NA-75 Daska constituency.

Disposing of the PTI candidate's application, the apex court had ordered the ECP to hold re-polling in Daska by-election on April 10.

Justice Ata Bandial announced the short order.

Talking to newsmen outside the Supreme Court building, PTI candidate from NA-75 Daska Ali Amjad Malhi said they would think about filing a review petition in this regard after getting the court decision

On March 25, the Supreme Court had ordered a halt to the polling in NA-75 Daska by-election scheduled to be held on April 10. Issuing an interim stay order, the apex court had remarked “Defer the polling day, not the whole polling process.”

The Election Commission of Pakistan had ordered re-election in NA-75 Daska on an application of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
