Islamabad High Court on Tuesday dealt with a writ petition contesting the transfer of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi from PIMS Hospital to Adiala Jail, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri conducted the hearing while Sardar Abdul Razaq Khan advocate appeared on behalf of Parvez Elahi's wife Qaisara Elahi.

The lawyer pleaded that former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi was admitted to PIMS Hospital on the instructions of doctors due to injury after falling in Adiala Jail.

Sardar Abdul Razaq added the medical experts had prescribed intensive care and two weeks of complete bed rest for his recovery.

Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was receiving treatment at PIMS when the situation took a dramatic turn during a visit by the Federal Health Minister.

Upon discovering Elahi's presence at the hospital, the minister swiftly issued orders for his shifting to Adiala Jail, prompting legal contention.

According to the constitution, treatment is the fundamental right of the accused.

Chaudhry Pervez Elahi should be transferred from Adiala Jail to PIMS Hospital for treatment.

The court sought a report from the Superintendent Adiala Jail and PIMS Hospital administration within two days.

Additionally, the Executive Director of PIMS was summoned to elucidate the rationale behind Elahi's transfer during his treatment.

The next hearing on the writ petition is slated for April 4.
