Inflation increased to 8.7 y-o-y in July

The Pakistan Statistics of Bureau has released the consumer price index report for the month of July 2021 according to which the inflation rate remained 8.4% during the previous month, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The PSB report released on Monday stated that inflation was increased by 8.7% in cities in the month of July on a year-on-year basis.

According to the statistics, the inflation rate was hiked by 8% year-on-year basis in villages.

In July, the prices of tomatoes and onions registered 82.4% and 32.5% increase, respectively in cities while the hike was 101.6% and 47.6%, respectively in villages.

Ghee became expensive by 6.7% and cooking oil by 6.5% in one month. Prices of sugar surged by 5% and potato and split chic peas (chana dal) lentil prices raised by 4.89%.

In one month, the prices of oil and gas jumped up by 12.7% and motor fuel by 8.8%.

The price of ghee was up by 32.85% and cooking oil by 31.7% in one year.

The prices of eggs were surged by 24% and sugar by 23% as compared to July 2020.

In one year, the rate of spices raised by 16.7%.

Flour prices went up by 14.9%; milk, meat and butter prices increased by 13% as compared to July 2020.

The electricity became 21.72% expensive as compared to July 2020.

In a period of one year, the prices of motor fuel registered a hike of 16.43%; oil and gas 37.58%; footwear 16.2% and prices of ready-made garments surged by 12%.
