Law Minister says SC to decide whether PTI will be banned or not

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said the Supreme Court will decide whether the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will be banned or not following the verdict of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

According to the 24News HD TV channel, Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazir Tarar and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan held a joint press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Talking to the media about the ECP’s decision on the foreign funding case, the law minister said that as per paragraph number 50 of the verdict, the PTI is now proved a ‘Foreign Funded Party’. 

Azam Nazir Tarar said the amount is detailed in paragraph 50 of the ECP’s decision so now the federal government will decide on the ban and issue a declaration.

Federal Law Minister further stated that if the federal government is satisfied, the declaration of a ban on the party is issued and after that, the Supreme Court will decide whether to ban the party or not.

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ayaz Sadiq also held a separate press conference in Islamabad and said Imran Khan could be fixed under Article 62, 63 as concealment of accounts has been proven against him.

He said if Britain handed over Chief Executive of Abraaj Group Arif Naqvi to the USA, Imran Khan would also be handed over as a co-criminal with him. And, might be the decision of the California court will be implemented against Imran Khan after his DNA, the Minister said.
