570 parliamentarians, legislators fail to provide details of assets to ECP

As many as 570 out of 1191 members of the National Assembly, Senate, and Provincial Assemblies have failed to submit their details of assets to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the ECP has issued a warning to the parliamentarians and legislators who did not submit the financial statements.
All the parliamentarians and legislators are bound to submit annual returns by December 31 and they also have to declare the assets of spouses, and dependent children.
The ECP has given a deadline of January 15 to submit the financial statements to the Members of Parliament and Provincial Members otherwise their membership will be suspended on January 16.
As per the report, 201 members of the National Assembly, 36 members of the Senate, 159 members of the Punjab Assembly, 76 members of the Sindh Assembly, 74 members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 24 members of Balochistan Assembly have not submitted their asset details.
Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Chairman Kashmir Committee Makhdoomzada Syed Basit Sultan Bukhari, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor, Federal Minister Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister Shah Zain Bugti, Federal Minister Agha Hassan Baloch, Federal Minister Sajid Hussain Turi have failed to submit financial statements to the ECP.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Mohsen Shahnawaz Ranjha, Senator Musadik Malik, and Azam Nazir Tarar also did not give details of assets.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Qasim Khan Suri, Fawad Chaudhry, Shafqat Mehmood, Ali Nawaz Awan, Asad Umar, Asad Qaiser, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Umar Ayub, Senator Mohsin Aziz, and Azam Swati have also not submitted their financial statements.
Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) Sardar Mohammad Akhtar Mengal also did not submit his details of assets in the ECP.
Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Members of Assembly Syed Ali Musa Gilani, Syed Khursheed Shah, Senator Maula Bakhsh Chandio, and Taj Haider have also not submitted their financial statements.
Karachi-based Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) Convenor Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui is also among those who did not submit returns while Grand Democratic Alliance’s (GDA) Dr Fahmida Mirza has also not submitted her returns
