The dubious licence scam of Pakistani pilots has taken a new turn as Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) through its Flight Operation Division has sought details from Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) and suspended Pakistani pilots in Malaysia till the probe completed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has been asked to provide the required details by Friday, an email letter sent to the PCAA said while Malaysia Civil Aviation Authority asked local authorities to suspend Pakistani pilots until licences are verified.

The pilots will be reinstated for flying after being certified by the Pakistani CAA, the letter said.

The letter issued to PCAA stated Pakistani pilots without confirmation from the Pakistani CAA will have no option but to revoke the Malaysian licences.

The required details include the name of the pilot, passport number, Pakistani licence number, issuance of Malaysian CAA's licence, if any, also sought.

It is pertinent to note that the European Union had already announced that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) would be barred from flying into Europe for at least six months after the dubious licence scandal hit the country that has been struggling to lift its image and morale amid serious financial and administrative troubles especially after a crash in May that killed 97 people in Karachi.
