Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman – known for his role as the chairman of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee – on Thursday said sacrificing animals through online payments wasn’t permissible.

He also called for performing collective sacrifice preferably through madrassas during the upcoming Eidul Azha which is going to be affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

In an attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus, the Saudi Arabian government has already announced that the people from other countries will not be allowed to perform Hajj this year.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi along with other religious leaders, Mufti Muneeb said the permit issued last year for collecting hides would be acceptable again.

He and with other religious leaders called for following the SOPs like wearing masks and avoiding overcrowding at the temporary animal markets to be established outside cities.

Earlier in the day, Muneeb asked the people that one or two family members were enough to visit the animal markets and said it was mandatory for the responsible citizens to follow the SOPs.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic had affected the entire humanity which passing through a testing period, said Mufti Muneeb.

During the press conference, Mufti Muneeb also opposed the construction of a Hindu temple in Islamabad and said the temples with statues were being built with the logo of the state of Medina.

Asking the government to reverse the decision, he said there was no example from the 1,450 years of Islamic history where a government had established a temple.

Mufti Muneeb, however, added that they accepted the rights of minorities who could build their worship places in their neighbourhood.
