FBR offices will remain open on weekends to meet tax target

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) abolished Saturday and Sunday holidays as all offices will be open on weekends with SOPs from June 5 to June 30, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The apex tax collection body ordered its staff to ensure attendance to meet tax collection targets.

On Tuesday, FBR released the provisional revenue collection figures for the first eleven months of the current fiscal year.

According to FBR, the tax collection body has collected net revenue of Rs4,170 billion during July-May period, which has exceeded the target of Rs3,994 billion by Rs176 billion. This represents a growth of about 18% over the collection of Rs3, 549 billion during the same period last year.
