Pakistan shuts down 28,409 websites/links

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MOFA) has launched a crackdown on ‘blasphemous’ and ‘hateful’ content on the Internet and so far 28,409 links and websites have been shut down against 51,656 complaints received, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Ministry of Religious Affairs has paced up the campaign and shut down internet links containing ‘blasphemous’ sketches and ‘hateful’ content.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) is awaiting the opinion of the Ulema Apex Committee on 130 posts/websites links and further action would be taken in the light of the Ulema opinion. 

Reports said that the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) linked down the websites on the request of the MoRA.
