Ghulam Nabi Memon has become Sindh police inspector general, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Thursday.

According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, the federal cabinet approved the appointment of Ghulam Nabi Memon as Sindh police head.

Ghulam Nabi Memon is a Police Service Grade 21 officer.

Former top cop Mushtaq Mahar has been removed from the post for his failure to maintain law and order in the province.

Recent terror strikes in Karachi and rising crime across the province made authorities remove Mushtaq Mahar.

Earlier, the Sindh government recommended Memon for the post.

On May 18, IG Mushtaq Mahar was removed from his post on the directives of the chief minister.

Mushtaq Mahar was directed to report to the establishment division and BPS-21 officer Dr Kamran Fazal was given additional charge as the police chief.
