Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has introduced a new policy for the provision of gas supply to the public according to which the consumers will now have to wait for four years instead of three to get a gas connection, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

On the other hand, the number of pending applications for domestic consumers has now crossed 2.5 million mark in Lahore Region only.

The TV channel reported that the demand notices are being issued in the Lahore region on the applications received in June 2017.

As per the new policy, the SNGPL will provide gas connections in 2,025 against the consumers’ applications filed in 2020.

Demand notices have not been issued even under the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority's (OGRA) fast-track policy.

It may be recalled that under the fast-track policy by OGRA adopted in 2014, a consumer is required to pay extra money other than the normal connection fee to get a connection on an urgent basis.
