Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday broke the news of a rift in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during a meeting with spokespersons for the federal government and leaders of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

At the meeting, the prime minister tasked the spokesperson with highlighting corruption of the opposition leaders, narrative of the federal government and the steps taken by the PTI-led government for the welfare of the public.

Khan said that bargain was the only objective of the opposition political parties. He said that opposition political parties were carrying out personal attacks instead of doing politics of the public interest. He said that opposition parties’ and Pakistan’s interests were different.

The meeting discussed the future course of action keeping in view the opposition’s anti-government protests. The economic situation in the country also came under discussion at the meeting. The meeting also discussed PML-N leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s remarks about Indian pilot’s release and narrative of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of 11 opposition political parties currently trying to topple the PTI-led federal government.

At the meeting, a strategy was prepared to counter the PDM’s narrative. On this occasion, some PTI representatives called for legal action against Ayaz Sadiq.
