The federal government has demanded some time from the Islamabad High Court for the submission of a detailed report pertaining to torture incidents on the participants of the long march of the proscribed religious party Tehreek-e-Labbaik, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Islamabad High Court was hearing a case of torture on the banned TLP long marchers on Tuesday in Islamabad.

The IHC gave two weeks to the federal government for the submission of the report. The court also asked the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to submit a report within two weeks giving the reason why it put a ban on the coverage of the religious outfit’s march.

IHC Justice Amir Farooq heard the case filed by the Shuhda Foundation.

Tariq Asad Advocate appeared before the court to represent the petitioners.

The deputy attorney general pleaded to the court to give the federal government some time for the submission of the report as an agreement had already been reached between the government and the outlawed TLP.

Justice Farooq said when this petition was filed, it seemed that the case needed an urgent hearing. Seeing the urgency of the matter, this case was fixed for an early hearing, the judge added.

Now the circumstances have changed, so the court can grant two weeks’ time to the government, Justice Farooq remarked.

With this, the court adjourned the case for two weeks.
