Boy electrocuted as heavy rain lashes Lahore

Lahore received intermittent rain in various areas that inundated low-lying areas with rainwater while light and heavy rain on Saturday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

An 8-year-old boy named Khurram was electrocuted in the Badami Bagh area. The child went to buy yogurt from the market but he touched the shop’s shutter running the electric current. A police team reached the spot and launched further investigation into the matter.

Heavy and light rain was recorded in Mughalpura, Shalimar, Model Town, Township, Harbanspura, Salampura, Farghabad, Garhi Shahu, Kot Khawaja Saeed, and other areas.

The highest rainfall of 96 mm was recorded in Farrukhabad while the current temperature of the city was recorded at 30 degrees Celsius.

Wasa Vice Chairman Sheikh Imtiaz said that Wasa teams were working for the smooth disposal of rainwater with sucker machines.

According to WASA, intermittently rain was recorded from 5.30 am to 8.40 am. 

Rainfall up to 81 mm was recorded in Lakshmi Chowk, Tajpura 79 mm, Allama Iqbal International Airport 75 mm, Mughalpura 55 mm, Upper Mall 49 mm, Chowk Nakhada 67 mm, Paniwala Talab 69 mm, while the lowest rainfall of 1 mm was recorded in Johar Town.

The development work at Sheranwala Gate has also been disturbed as a motorcycle and rickshaw frowned in rainwater near the Sheranwala Gate construction work. 

Rainwater also inundated at Bhati Chowk, Shahdara, GC University, IG Office, Qaddafi Stadium, Bank Court, Town Hall, Jain Mandir, Rehman Pura, Sultan Pura, Ichra, Abid Market, and Mozang.   

Pakistan weather office forecasted that rain-wind/thundershower (with isolated heavy falls) is expected in upper/central Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and lower Balochistan.ِ
