After hike in petroleum products, the goods transporters have increased fares by five percent, reported 24News HD TV channel on Saturday. 

Goods Transport Association President Rana Mohammad Aslam said that the rise in the price of engine oil and tires had doubled due to rise in dollar price. He said the record hike in petroleum prices was the main reason behind rising in fares as it was inevitable. He said the price of two truck tires had gone up from Rs60,000 to Rs120,000. He said the petroleum products also became more expensive every fortnight. The cost per trip has increased from Rs10,000 to Rs 12,000, he said. 

The transporters said thousands of freight vehicles delivered goods from ports to every nook and corner of the country every day. If the cost continues to rise, it will be more difficult to drive a truck, they said.
