Last week sees dollar goes all-time high at Rs173.50

The US dollar hit a record high of Rs 173.50 last week in the open market, reported 24NewsHD TV on Saturday.

In last week, the dollar rose by Rs.1.40 from Rs.169.80 to Rs.170.48 in the interbank market.

In the open market, the dollar rose by Rs.1 from Rs.171 to Rs.172 at the end of the week.

Experts say that the rising price of US dollar will make imported goods more expensive. Rising prices of petroleum products, electricity and gas on all imported goods, including commodities, will lead to a storm of inflation, this makes investors cautious.

Meanwhile, the 100 Index recorded a decline of 201 points in one week.

And the index closed at 44,871. During the business week, 1.77 billion shares worth Rs.64 billion were traded.

With the fall in share price, the market capitalization fell by Rs.22 billion to Rs.7, 808 billion in one week.

In one week, the euro rose by Rs.1 to Rs.200.50 and the British pound by Rs.234.50.

The Emirati dirham went up by Rs0.10 to Rs 48.20 in a week.

Furthermore, Saudi Riyal increased by Rs 0.45 to Rs 45.90.
