At least 13 people died in flood-hit areas of Khushab, Buner and Swat while tourists are still stranded in neighbouring Bahrain, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The flood situation in Swat has not yet returned to normal as the rivers continued to flow with high water level. In Karachi, Pakistan Navy personnel continued its rescue and relief operation in rain-hit areas.

Three people, including women and children, were killed and three others injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Chagarzi Badal Algram area of Buner due to more than normal rains.

Rescue 1122 disaster rescue team and a medical team reached the spot after receiving the information and shifted the injured to DHQ hospital. The bodies of two children and a woman have been recovered.

In Swat, light rains continued for the third day Wednesday. Three people were killed and seven others injured in floods across the valley. The TV channel reported that hundreds of tourists were stranded in Kalam and Bahrain due to flood in Swat.

The TV channel reported that water level has been recorded high at Trimu Headworks in Jhang where conditions have started returning to normal in the flood-hit villages, however, diseases have started erupting in the affected areas. In Multan, low-level floodwater is flowing into the Chenab River.

According to Punjab Disaster Management Authority sources, 1.5 million cusecs of water will continue to flow in Multan district in the next 24 hours. Thousands of acres of sugarcane, millet, fodder and vegetable crops were destroyed due to the landslide and people have started to flee the areas.

It is possible that 200,000 cusecs of water will be beyond the limits of Multan district, Irrigation Department said. A flood with 112,000 cusecs is also passing through the Chenab River at Head Panjnad in Alipur.

Gilgit Baltistan

In Ghizer district, torrential rains have wreaked havoc and floods have closed roads in various parts of Ghizer while power shutdown has disrupted the routine life. The rains in Ghizer district for the last three days have played havoc in Gahkoch while most of the victims have started evacuating from the flood-hit areas.  The affected people say that no responsible person of the government and administration has reached there yet. Landsliding has been reported in Challas also.

Pakistan Navy

Pakistan Navy’s Emergency Response Teams have been conducting rescue and relief operations in rain-affected areas of Karachi and also conducting a search operation on Korangi Causeway to find the drowned people. 

Meanwhile, Pakistan Navy rescue teams evacuated the beleaguered people in different areas of Karachi. A Pakistan Navy spokesperson said thousands of people in Yousuf Goth, Surjani Town, Nazimabad and other affected areas were provided ready-made food and clean drinking water.

Pakistan Navy medical teams also provided medical aid to hundreds of people trapped in different areas in Karachi and during the relief operation in the affected areas, an aerial survey of various areas was carried out to improve the measures.

Pakistan Navy teams and necessary equipment were dispatched to fill the gap in Sam Nalla at Mirpur Bathoro, the Navy spokesman said.

Ration bags were also distributed among hundreds of rain victims in Sujawal, the Pakistan Navy spokesman maintained.
