Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly expressed serious concerns over the closure of Utility Stores across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Expressing his anger, PAC Chairman Syed Naveed Qamar said that the Parliament was assured that no employee would be terminated nor the institution would be closed, but would be handed over to the party.

PTI’s MNA Malik Amir Dogar said that this is a serious issue involving 14,000 employees. He went on to say that Utility Stores Corporation owns assets of Rs200 billion.

Secretary Industries and Production said that the organization does not have any revenue as they miserably failed to pay salaries.

He said that they submitted an application to the finance division for a special package.

The government cannot get rid of this issue by paying three months' salary.

Later, the chairman forwarded this matter to a sub-committee headed by Syed Naveed Qamar.
