Pakistani actress and Tamasha Season 2 winner Aruba Mirza has opened up about a painful chapter of her personal life, revealing how she discovered that her former fiance had married someone else after they had been together for seven years.
Aruba appeared on show Mazaaqrat, hosted by Imran Ashraf, where she became emotional while discussing betrayal in relationships. She said she had been in a seven-year relationship with her former partner and that marriage had been part of their plans.
According to Aruba, people around them were also aware that the couple intended to get married. She said she therefore had no reason to believe that the relationship was about to end in such a painful way.
She recalled that her former partner had told her he was travelling to Islamabad for family-related reasons while she remained busy with a shoot. She continued working as usual, unaware of what was happening.
Everything changed when a friend contacted her and asked her to look at some pictures. Aruba said that when she opened them, she discovered that the pictures were from her former partner’s Nikah with another woman.
The revelation left her devastated. Aruba recalled breaking down and crying on the set, leaving those around her worried. She said she was unable to explain what had happened because she was still trying to process the shock herself.
When her makeup artist asked why she was crying, Aruba said she could not reveal the real reason. She recalled that an excuse was eventually given on the set that her grandmother had died.
Looking back at the incident, Aruba said her reaction was so intense that it was difficult to hide how deeply she had been hurt. At the time, she was facing the reality that a relationship she had invested seven years in had ended in a way she had never expected.
Aruba also spoke about betrayal more generally, saying that it can come from both friends and romantic partners. She described herself as someone who has experienced betrayal from both sides and said such experiences can leave a lasting emotional impact.
At one point, she used the powerful phrase “living corpse” to describe what severe heartbreak can feel like. By this, she was explaining how a person can continue living, going to work and interacting with others while feeling emotionally empty inside.
Her description also reflected the difficulty of dealing with personal pain while working in the public eye. Even after receiving devastating news, Aruba still had to face colleagues and continue with her professional responsibilities.
Despite everything, the actress said that life continues and that healing takes time. She credited friendship and the passage of time with helping her move forward after the betrayal.
Clips from the interview have attracted attention on social media, with many viewers expressing sympathy for Aruba and praising her for speaking openly about an experience that was clearly difficult to revisit.
Aruba Mirza has appeared in several Pakistani dramas, including Shahrukh Ki Saliyan, Rang Mahal and Intiqam. She gained wider fame after winning Tamasha Season 2 in 2023.
