An accountability court (AC) in Islamabad was told on Wednesday that former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif had now become part of the investigation in the Toshakhana cars reference, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

AC judge Muhammad Bashir heard the reference filed against Nawaz, former president Asif Ali Zardari and former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.

Gilani did not appear in the court since he was busy in electioneering.

His lawyer requested the judge to exempt his client from appearance in the court today.

Qazi Misbah Advocate, counsel for Nawaz, prayed to the court to also hear six miscellaneous applications.

He went on to say that today the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was supposed to submit to the court its inquiry report in the case.

But the NAB prosecutor replied that since former investigation officer (IO) in the case had been transferred the new IO needed time to submit the report.

He, however, said that the IO would appear in the court on the next hearing and would submit the report.

The judge asked him to submit the report in four days.

However, the NAB prosecutor told him that submission of the report in such a short time was not possible.

The court directed the prosecutor to submit the report on January 4, 2024.
