Debt-stricken man poisons three children, attempts suicide in Abbottabad

A man allegedly poisoned his three minor children, killing them, while also poisoning and physically assaulting his wife before attempting suicide himself in Kaghan Colony,  Abbottabad, on Saturday, 24NewsHD TV reported. 

According to police sources, the accused, identified as Kashif, was reportedly under severe financial stress due to mounting debt.

Kashif administered poison to his three children, resulting in their deaths on the spot.

He then poisoned his wife and subjected her to violence before consuming poison himself in an apparent suicide attempt.

Both Kashif and his wife were shifted to Ayub Medical Complex in critical condition, where they remain under treatment.

The post-mortem examinations of the three children were also conducted at Ayub Medical Complex.

After completion of legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, several videos recorded by Kashif have surfaced on social media, in which he can be seen discussing his financial troubles.

In one video message, addressing a lender, he says: “Sell my house and take your Rs11 million, and give Rs1million to my sister.”

Speaking to the media, a cousin of Kashif said that the accused was deeply attached to his wife and children and that there had never been any domestic disputes within the family.

“He loved his family dearly. We never saw any signs of conflict,” the cousin claimed.

Police officials said that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
